DAVIS DOG POCKET

Davis Dog PocketThird pup in the Rock-it Pocket litter, the Davis Dog is for the advanced player who likes the pocket high in the head, as close to the scoop as possible, for the fastest shots and maximum ball control. This pocket features three hockey laces, and one adjustable throw string. Especially popular with middies because they are great for shooting side-arm and on the run. Not recommended for long poles.

Davis Dog PocketThe Davis Dog Rock-it Pocket was developed early in this century, and caters to those who like the ball very high in the pocket, which is how you get a harder shot. Ryan Davis, who played for CSU at the time, helped me evolve this pocket. We were going to call it the "Top Dog," but it became the "Davis" or the "Dog."

The extra hockey laces help allow the top area of the pocket to stretch and be the deepest part. The physics of having the ball sit near the scoop is what allows for more speed. It is also harder to keep well adjusted, mainly because hockey laces are not reliable, and there are three of them on the Dog. One need only look at one lace closely to see the Davis Dog Pocketcapability of stretching and shrinking. Multiply that times three.

The Dog pocket does not "rock" as well as the other Rock-it Pocket styles because the ball sits in the widest part of the plastic head. It is harder to throw a touch pass with this one, too. This is a pocket made for experts only.
