Old ‘Souls’ Sometimes Try Mine

April 28, 2003

We are coming down the stretch.

I don’t want us to “over train”. I even told two players today that I don’t care if they even practice this week. I want their focus to be to get healthy. I used to have a no practice, no play rule, but that went out [...]

The Same Page Is Good

April 30, 2003

During practices, I often ask them verbal questions about what we are doing that they all (should) know the answer to. If everyone, to a man, knows the specific answer to a specific question, then aren’t we always on the same page?

We must not take shots that are easy for a goalie to save. PERIOD!

Meet Me in St. Louis (refrain)

TIME, TIME, SEE WHAT’S BECOME OF ME

So, we are half way to next Tuesday, when we leave for St. Louis. Practices have had a good feel. These next few days are the only ones we have left for some ever-precious practice time. We will do as much as I can [...]

Form Follows Family Function

FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION

When we are truly successful as a team we are also a cohesive family. It might sound strange to say that I demand that we function as a true “Family” unit, but I do. Within that I am Papa. We are only as good as we are all [...]

Anticipation – The Night Before The Big One

May 9, 2003

I do not have any idea why, but I am more calm tonight than I was last night. I must admit that I was a little shook up when our big Defenseman Schmidy (#37) went down yesterday. He has been my anchor in so many ways, he is a truly gifted leader, [...]

Come On Up For The Rising

Saturday, May 10, 2003 8:00 CDT USLIA National tournament – St. Louis – Championship game

CSU 6 UCSB 4 – Colorado State University – USLIA 2003 National Champions

In a somewhat less than beautiful game we emerged as the “last team standing”, true to our “rallying cry” from day one, and used every time we [...]

No Fear

May 14,2003

I’m not sure of the exact number, but of our 18 victories this year, way more than half had both teams under 10 goals for the contest. Most all of the games we played were one or two goal games. These are nerve racking, but I enjoy the intensity, I really do. I [...]

Let’s Hear It For The Goalie Boy

2/2012

LET”S HEAR IT FOR THE GOALIE BOYS

I have enjoyed seeing the goalie make a “comeback” in lacrosse in recent times. For years it seemed that goalies weren’t as important or dominant as they had been when I played “back in the day”. Eight or ten saves had been pretty a good one game [...]

A Band of Brothers

In 2003 we were less of a lot of things, but we were so much more, too. Everyone bought their ticket and willingly got on the 2003 Magic Bus. Any time that there was someone showing signs of being a “Non-believer”, he stuck out like a sore thumb, because we were indeed a “Band of [...]
