- - Always wash your pocket out! When dirt and mud gets into your pocket, it will act like sandpaper and wear your pocket down very quickly. Take it in to the shower and rinse all the dirt and grass out of your pocket on muddy days to ensure pocket longevity. Don't be afraid to get your pocket wet!
- - Watch out for frays!! If your strings start to fray, even slightly, take a Bic lighter and slightly melt the frayed part of the string. Be careful not to over burn the string to the point that it turns black. You don't have to apply the flame directly to the strings.
- - Punch your pocket. When you let you pocket dry, it will often form to that shape. Make sure it is punched out to form your pocket, even while you are drying it.
- - Never store your equipment on your stick - especially in your car. Not only will your pocket be crumpled up, but with the way heads are made these days, putting equipment on your head can pinch your heads and make them illegal. Storing them in your car can act like an oven, even in cold weather, and make them pinch even more. Store your stick straight up and down to take care of the pocket.
- - Watch out for penalties! Wet weather will stretch your pocket. It's always better to be too shallow than too deep. If it's raining, tighten up your stick before you play to make sure you don't kill your team with a stick penalty.
- - Use the goo! Shoe Goo is great to keep a string from blowing out. If you notice a string in the middle of your head fraying and want to keep it from breaking, applying a little bit of Shoe Goo will help it last longer.
