| The Sentinel is Gait's first foray into the goalie head market that actually makes some sense. This head is very similar to the Warrior Nemesis in a lot of categories. With its open sidewalls, gradual curve (a la the STX Eclipse) and very light weight, the Sentinel has quickly become one of our favorite goalie heads. The Sentinel does not have an oversized face like some of the newer heads coming out. Instead, it features a fairly "regular" sized catching area. It also features some of the stringing options that have made the Gait/deBeer line popular with stringers over the last couple of years. There are plenty of holes to pick when you are stringing this stick, meaning you can customize it better than most. One issue we have with this head is that the throwing strings and mesh often bunch up near the sides of the head. Since Warrior owns the patent on the "step back" sidewall design, the rest of the companies have to make due with holes maybe in places they don't want. We have made our Goal-Ex pocket work pretty well with this head, however. The throwing strings make a nice "U" shape naturally with the way we string this head. Overall, because of its solid shape, sturdy construction and light weight, we feel very strongly that this head will be part of the new revolution of open sidewalled goalie sticks.
