A gradual bend at the middle of the Katana lets you place more weight and strength behind the stick for increased momentum.
This is a personal feel thing. There is no right or wrong. There is legal and illegal, however.
The Katana bend can also place the release point of your shots further in front of you. It can generate a little more snap on shots and feeds, too, by extending the follow through motion. The ball stays in the sweet spot of the pocket longer to generate more power. Constructed of Custom 7075 series alloy with a concave octagon profile for excellent control. They make a scandium bent one (Katana) as well, but since it is already bent you might want it to be made of a little bit more resilient material that is a little cheaper anyway.
The Gait boys were doing this to their aluminum poles more than 20 years ago. They would literally put on a new shaft, go to the nearest chain link fence, and proceed to bang the perfect bend into their handle by rapping it on the top bar and slowly (or not) bending the aluminum just so....
