First manufactured in 2002, the Brine Nitrous is very light and fairly durable. The design is offset, but reaches forward at the top of the head. The bottom of the sidewall where the pocket is attached is actually curved from throat to scoop. The Nitrous is probably best for offensive-minded players. The throat area has good reinforcement to help the head stay tightly fit onto the shaft. This is probably not the greatest head for whacking, though. The design is a good setup for traditional (leathers) and Rock-it Pocket stringing because the holes on the scoop for the leathers help protect the leathers by its design. On the throat, the four holes are placed well for leather, and are rectangular, to fit the shape of the leather piece. The front view resembles the look of a "pinched" Edge. It is Edge-like in the way it is offset. The back of the throat is similar to the Edge design as well. The bottom of the walls are pinched a little. Tapered lower rails are supposed to give a more pinched, face-off advantage. Sidewalls are 2-7/8" at narrowest part of throat. The bottom of the side walls taper in slightly as they near the scoop portion of the head for better ball control. The Nitrous is very similar to the Matrix in shape. The main difference is that the Nitrous doesn’t have the bottom of the sidewalls bent in to narrow the holding area for the ball.
