| The Gait Nuclear is interesting in that it is the first ever head to have a built-in grip on the head where it attaches to the handle. Three grooves are molded into an inch-long plastic insert where most heads would end at the bottom and vertical cradlers will have a little something extra to hold on to. It should be noted that if your head is not all the way secured to the top of the handle, the plastic tab will break after repeated catches. Other than that insert, the Nuclear is a fairly basic Gait design. Like some of its now-defunct predecessors, the Nuclear is "mesh-centric," meaning that the top stringing holes are not meant for leather to fit. Rock-it Pocket makes adjustments accordingly, but self-stringers should take this into account. The sidewall profile is very similar to the Gait fuel and has a slight curve to it. Gait is known for making light heads, and even with the bottom tab, our test head weighed a surprising 136 grams unstrung, which compares with the Gait Torque. Similar to the Fuel, the Nuclear flares out with it's back rails (a la the Warrior Helix). This will allow for a better hold near the bottom of the head. The Nuclear is also fairly pinched, meaning that beginners could struggle to catch passes if they don't get it exactly in the middle of the face.
