Gait Torque

Introduced in 2004, the Gait Torque by de beer is still a very popular head model. This one has the 'Gait canted technology' which creates the maximum offset by gradually angling the rails down and away from the target before 'flattening out' to the scoop. The lower rail has a curve on the bottom that tells the stringer where the pocket should be the deepest.

The V-shaped scoop is designed for accuracy and channeling the ball into the middle of the head.

The Torque has a pinched look and unique qualities that have bred player loyalty for a certain kind of player. The scoop is 'squeezed' and that helps put a channel in any pocket. It also creates a scoop that works well at steeper angles for getting the ball off the ground on the run and as well as for one-handed pick-ups.

There are multiple holes pretty much everywhere you can think of on the Torque, and on the inside of the side rails there are 'support ribs' that pinch the pocket opening, yes, but they also have well placed holes for shooting strings to be tied high onto the wall, making a quick and consistent release point possible coming from inside a really deep pocket..

The Torque head shape is almost canted and offset all at once (Maybe that's why they called it the "Torque"). With offset the player gets maximum stroke (speed) capability.

The weight range for the Torque is about 133 grams, making it still one of the lightest out there.

The holes for stringing are plentiful, but also unusual. No other head is configured exactly like this one. It strings up pretty easily even though it looks like it might be tricky because of the wacky hole placements.

Paul (Gait) pretty much threw every design feature he has in his bag for this one and we do recommend it as one of our favorite heads. He (Paul), one of the great lax equipment designers, has recently moved on and is under the wing of Underarmor now. They are rocking the 'Mercenary" as his latest head design, but we continue to move plenty of Torques from Gait (de beer) Lacrosse, his old company.

For a short stick, this head might be one of the best on the market, even now. If a player put this head on a scandium handle he would have himself a light, versatile, and very durable stick. We like this head for any position, but as with most heads it is designed with offensive characteristics in the forefront.

The Torque can take it. Many times players complain about how many of a particular kind of head they have broken (HEY, try something else!). The Torque is not one of those. It will take a licking and keep on ticking in terms of holding its shape and also having no glaring weak spots in places where heads sometimes crack.

ROCK-IT POCKET LEATHER: - Our leathers are 100% real hide, which is durable and resistant to water. These leathers are strong and do not sag in humid conditions.

ROCK-IT POCKET & MESH MATERIALS: - We use a high quality nylon string for the middle part of our Rock-it Pockets and the sidewall/trim of our mesh pockets.

LACES: - Jima Lax supplies us with colored hockey laces we use on our mesh pockets. These laces can be used on Rock-it Pockets, but we recomend our high quality (default) laces that come only in white.

MESH MATERIAL: - We carry a variaty of hard, soft, 6 diamond, goalie hard and goalie 12 diamond mesh. These are the most common types of mesh used in the game.

Leather Color Options:

For ROCK-IT POCKETS ONLY!! Leathers are white by default. No leathers in mesh pockets!

Extra Hockey Laces:

Extra laces will be enclosed with your order for you to string later. These can be used if you have another head/pocket that needs new shooting laces.

NFHS or NCAA:

By default, our pockets are all strung to meet all regulation for the NFHS (high school and bellow). If you play in NCAA (college) please state so in the special instructions box below and we will make the small adjustment to make it legal for your regulations.
