At 124 grams the STX Revolver one of the lightest heads out there. It is new for 2010, but does not have a wide enough throat to be legal for NCAA play. It is LEGAL FOR HIGH SCHOOL AND POST-COLLEGIATE LEVELS ONLY. The Revolver is in line with many basic STX traditions like being light and like having a very thin and flat scooping blade. The offset is the maximum allowed and the drop is quick, just above the throat. The sidewalls are very open and that contributes to the weight loss along with the minimal length of the insert for the handle at the throat. The Revolver, like so many of the STX heads is a good choice for those who want their pocket a little higher and up from the center part of the head. The head opening is a little over the minimum allowed 6.5" at its widest, making it well suited for the catching part of stick work, and which theoretically makes it appeal to the long pole players as well. The sidewalls are straight up and down, as only Brine and Warrior can use the flare technology patent. There is an ample amount of holes along the sidewall bottoms that are 'strategically placed' allowing for versatility with your stringing options. The four holes in the throat are large enough to accommodate leather, and 4 of the 6 in the scoop are slightly enlarged to do the same. In fact, The Revolver is probably a particularly good head candidate for use with traditional and Rock-it Pockets because it is so light to offset the heavier pocket, and because of the size of the holes and where they are placed. STX describes the Revolver as having "improved stiffness," whatever that means. We don’t think it is that stiff of a head, but that of course is something that is a matter of style and taste and neither good nor bad by definition. We definitely see it as a better choice for the offensive minded player. It is a good shooting stick as the head shape does a good job at naturally channeling the ball in the middle. This means it is built for accuracy and shot speed, as the throwing stroke becomes just a tad longer than many other heads.
