The Mojo X very closely resembles the old Mojo: a fairly basic head design, but definitely a very solid performer. With its 3" throat opening it is legal for all levels of play. The scoop opening is quite wide at almost 6 3/4", making the catching area bigger and more open than most heads. This makes it especially great for the beginning player. The shape of the scoop is almost unique, much more old school than many. By that I mean it carries a straight rather than arched line. Warrior describes it as a broad, flat scoop design. This is at least partially the result of that wider opening at the top of the head. The shape of the blade makes for great scooping. There is a substantial ridge at the back of the scoop to help protect the stringing extremely well and keep it from fraying, etc. The throat has a great configuration for durability. The walls are open but well structured to hold up to the whacking, both taking and giving. Unlike the Mojo, the Mojo X does not have the step back feature running all the way up the bottom of the sidewall as so many Warrior heads do. It only steps back at the throat, which makes the head well suited for a low pocket. There is a very minimal inward flare to the sidewall, which makes it a little more like some of the older Warrior and Brine designs. At 158 grams the Mojo X is mid-range in terms of weight, and the added weight helps to make this head stiffer than some for good strength and durability. The off-set is maximum, but the line of it is a little more gradual than many of the other Warrior heads. This design style helps with pocket consistency and ball release. The plastic is a little different from the old Mojo. The Mojo X is a little slicker and shinier. The configuration for stringing is set up with fewer holes than many of the newer heads, but there are still enough of them to offer multiple stringing options. The holes for leather are shaped for the leather. We think the Mojo X is a great choice for players just starting out, yes, but also for defensemen and others who are looking for some of the things that make this head a little different from many others out there.
