Warrior's line of 2010 heads includes one called the Noz and it is indeed a little bit new and different from anything they have produced before. The Noz is legal for all levels of play. Warrior is touting it as the lightest head ever made at 4.3 oz. We weighed one in at 120 grams, which is just about what they are saying. The old STX Excalibur was close to this weight, but the Noz is definitely as featherweight as it gets right now. The thing that makes the Noz really unique is that it has nitrogen gas injected into the head, which creates a chamber inside the plastic. Presumably this process is being used as a new way to take some of the weight out, and nitrogen is the ingredient that helps make it so light. Time will tell us what this ‘gas chamber’ means as far as head endurance goes. The Noz contour gives the head an offset look. The offset starts a little farther forward from the throat than most, however. The sidewall does not curve back as it moves toward the scoop, but rather stays pretty straight. The plastic itself is very flexible, especially in the scoop area of the head. It does not take a lot of force to squeeze the sidewalls closer together, but it seems to return to the original shape pretty well. The sidewalls have Warrior’s patented flare at the bottom, but only slightly, not nearly as much as the Blade does, for example. It has a fairly wide and flat scoop for good ground balling. The plastic finish is slightly textured, or matted if you will. The Noz dyes up well, but the colors will not have a shiny finish. The overall design/shape could be characterized as generally a fairly basic one. With the nitrogen injected chamber and what seems to be a different kind of plastic material being used, perhaps Warrior didn’t want to go too far overboard. The throat area where the shaft goes in is reinforced for added durability. The number of holes for attaching the pocket is moderate, similar to the Warrior Helix or the Warrior Stiffi. With the afore mentioned sidewall flare, which narrows the pocket area at top part of the head, the Noz tends to want to have the ball sit in a mesh pocket at a point just below the center, similar in its natural placement to the Rock-it Pocket Bam. Because of the lightness and flexibility of the Noz, it would seem to best fit the offensive minded players. The extreme flexibility makes it a choice for the face-off guy to consider as well, and lightness is your number one priority then this is clearly a head for you.
