The VICE X meets all current head specifications and can be used at all levels of play. At first glance the head face is similar to the Brine Clutch with a bit of a 'Canadian' style' pinch that squeezes the sides closer together up toward the scoop, which in turn encourages the deep part of the pocket to also be higher in the head.

The side view however, is quite different from the Clutch. The Vice X has a curved profile more so than an offset look, which should help any pocket to roll the ball out of the head for increased consistency with feeds as well as shots.

The Vice X does not use the Warrior nitrogen-injected technology, but it is a very light model at about 134 grams. This puts it at a mere one ounce heavier than the ultra light Warrior Evolyte. Some of the weight comes off from the sidewall near the scoop, which is an open area of the head.

The width of the opening of the head near the scoop at the back and at its widest place meets the minimum 6.5" to make it legal for any level of play, but the wall side steps up quickly toward the scoop, making it 'play' a little smaller for greater ball control and meanwhile making it harder for the ball to be dislodged by a check. This Vice X will play a little like an X6 style of head, and by that we mean the heads that are legal for NCAA but not NFHS because they are pinched to 6" up top. Again, the Vice X is legal for all levels.

The throat design is a little shorter than some, which offers a better feel for the hand, but thicker plastic is used there, making it more durable than the Evolution, which can crack sometimes because it is so thin where the shaft goes onto the head. Warrior made the sidewalls to be extra stiff near the Vice X throat, a feature that might have appeal for the face off guy.

The sidewalls do flare inward at the bottom, but just a little up above the center of the head. The walls are straight up and down for the most part. The scoop blade is flat and thin. The scoop has a strong curve shape, but not radically so.

The Vice X has the Warrior patented step-back technology in the throat behind the ball stop. This helps hide the ball when it is down there. There is not that much protecting the stringing from wear and tear along the bottom of the sidewalls until you get up near the scoop where the strings are very well protected with a step in the plastic. The stringing holes are fewer and farther between than the multi-holed Clutch. Fewer and well placed stringing holes allow for the pockets to be easier to put in, and encourages consistent results. The head will easily accommodate leathers as well.

The light weight and the narrow face opening channels the ball well and makes the Vice X a head that will work well for the offensive minded player. We like the Warrior Vice X for the serious offensive minded midfielder as well as for facing off. It has a set of features that will make it appeal to players that like to pinch their head as much as they can. The plastic takes color dyes well.

SCOOP RATING - Average. It is not flat and it is not wide. It is important to be accurate when scooping to get maximum efficiency.

STRINGING - It is fairly easy to string up and get consistent results. The holes near the throat encourage a narrow pocket down low for good ball retention.

STIFFNESS - I would rate the Vice X as having medium stiffness overall. It keeps its shape well over time and flexing.

ROCK-IT POCKET LEATHER: - Our leathers are 100% real hide, which is durable and resistant to water. These leathers are strong and do not sag in humid conditions.

ROCK-IT POCKET & MESH MATERIALS: - We use a high quality nylon string for the middle part of our Rock-it Pockets and the sidewall/trim of our mesh pockets.

LACES: - We carry a variaty of hard, soft, 6 diamond, goalie hard and goalie 12 diamond mesh. The mesh we use is the most common type of mesh used in the game.

MESH MATERIALS: - Jima Lax supplies us with colored hockey laces we use on our mesh pockets. These laces can be used on Rock-it Pockets, but we recomend our high quality (default) laces that come only in white.
